Charlie has worked in the insurance and financial services industry since graduating from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ with a B.S. degree in Marketing.

A chance visit to the Durham-Chapel Hill area lead this former college athlete to "college basketball heaven" and he has been an avid ACC fan ever since.

Charlie began with The Prudential and in 1985 after a successful career as an agent decided to take on the challenge of building an independent financial services firm and what is now The Potter Financial Group.

He currently holds five professional designations:

  • Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); 
  • Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC); 
  • Registered Financial Consultant (RFC);
  • Accredited Estate Planner (AEP); 
  • Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC).

Charlie is an active member of the Durham/Orange Estate Planning Council and is a Past-President of the Council.

His area of concentration is on the insurance component of the clients overall financial plan, focusing on the adequacy of existing individual or work related insurance coverages in light of the client’s stated goals and objectives.

In addition, Charlie manages the firm’s relationship with the major insurance companies we represent and negotiates costs and coverages on behalf of our clients.  Charlie is an Insurance Agent with Potter Financial.

Chip Roe is a retirement planning specialist who helps clients navigate the myriad of investment choices and tax considerations over a client’s lifetime.  Since obtaining his CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER) Certification, Chip has guided clients through 6 major stock market crashes, 5 bear markets, countless financial crises as well as leading through very prosperous times.  His expertise in financial planning has been sought out as an expert witness in family law cases.

Chip is in his 3rd decade of the financial advisory business.  In addition to the CFP®, Chip also holds the designations of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) and Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®) from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Western Carolina University. 

As a member of the Financial Planning Association and past president of the Durham/Orange Estate Planning Council, Chip is active in his profession.  Chip holds a General Securities license (Series 7) and is an Investment Advisor representative through Commonwealth Financial Network®

For over two decades Price has helped his clients create and implement strategies designed to grow their financial wealth and reduce risk exposure.  His education and experience serves his clients by helping them understand the options available in the market, and how to craft a personalized plan to maximize those choices. Price serves his clients throughout the United States.
 
Price has a BA degree, cum laude, from Duke University. He has earned the professional designations of Registered Financial Consultant, and Chartered Life Underwriter, which require rigorous examination and continuing education. He holds a Series 6 (Investment Company Products/Variable Contracts Limited Representative), 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam), and 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam) license to help his clients with money management, as well as various insurance licenses.  Price is a sought-after speaker, and has spoken at many premier institutions in America, including Duke, University of NC-Chapel Hill, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest to name a few. He also gives to his community by volunteering in his church, children’s schools, and various organizations.
 
As a businessman, husband and father of four, Price understands the value of time! His passion is helping his clients achieve True Wealth, which is living life to the fullest while pursuing one’s passions. When Price isn’t serving others, he spends his free time playing golf and reading.

Jason Harmon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006 and has worked in the financial services industry for over 8 years. Specifically, his experience is in the area of retirement and education planning. He has held the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) certification since 2011 and also holds the Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law) investment licenses along with various state insurance licenses. He currently serves as a wealth advisor associate with the Potter Financial Group.

Jason lives with his wife in Raleigh and enjoys watching sports, playing golf and reading in his spare time.

Jackie McDowell

Jackie McDowell has been actively involved in the insurance industry since 1979.  She began her career in the group health arena. 

In 1987, she joined The Potter Financial Group as the new business processor of the Individual insurance division.  In addition, she has served as assistant to the President and head of customer service. 

In 2000, she was promoted to Vice President of Operations and currently manages the day to day operations of the company.

Jackie lives in Durham with her husband and daughter.  She enjoys gardening, the outdoors, and bird watching in her spare time.

Sarah Stott

Sarah has been in the financial industry since 2007. She offers a wide range of proficiencies which includes insurance and investments. Her current role as the Client Services Coordinator allows her to combine her knowledge in those fields to enhance your client experience.

Prior to 2007, she worked in the banking industry for 7 years. While in a branch atmosphere, she provided direction and leadership with an emphasis on superior client service skills and teamwork. She was also responsible for overseeing the branch’s day to day operations and compliance with the bank’s policies and procedures. 

Sarah is a lifelong North Carolinian and lives with her family in Mebane.
